A day at the office?

Or maybe not?
What to do when the office is still without power after the storm, well, what about having an early lunch down town with your friends!
So while waiting for updates on the progress of fixing the power outage we had lunch, did some shopping, got confirmation that it would probably be 5pm before the power was back (but keep updated, just in case it might be back earlier), more shopping, nice long trip to Chapters (the bookstore), then dinner at Pi pizza! Really nice day in sunny summer-warm SJ!
At 7:45 pm power was back in the office, so guess we can go to work tomorrow!

The sun is out, and it's nice and warm after the tropical storm!
The streets down town are closed off, and the cleaning crew are doing their job!

This poor flag is now almost half gone! By the end of the storm the left side of the leaf was gone too!

It's hard to take a picture of the wind, but it was strong gusts, hurricane force gusts, so my little house shock, the glasses in my cupboard and the mirror in the bathroom rattled, and I was a little uneasy on the sofa....!

Leslie is on her way!

The lucky town of Fortune on the Burin Peninsula was where she hit land!
On the Avalon Peninsula we only got winds up to 130 km/h when she came to us around 10 o'clock.

Quiet before the storm!

And not just any storm, Tropical Storm Leslie is coming for a visit, with hurricane force winds!
So it's time to save anything that you might have outdoors before the wind and the rain is setting in tonight!

After several days of sun, the fog is trying to come back. But I am flying home at 16 today, so please please Mr Fog, please stay away for one more day!

Typical spring day in SJ!

Middle of the day, not much daylight really.. June last year we had 26 of 30 days with fog like this, let's see what this June will bring!

Sun! Hurrah!

Finally, we can see the sun again! It's been about two weeks since we saw it last! But the fog is still trying to come in the Narrows!
No summer yet! Still about 4-7 degrees, but at least some sunlight helps on the mood!

What is this? Snow?

Coming out of the gym on Thursday this view made me stop pretty fast! What is this, snow? Again? It was only 3-4 degrees and light rain when I went in to the gym, so it was more than possible! But when I walked a few steps further, I realized that it was only the fog reflecting of the wet road... Puuuuh...

Time for an evening stroll in the fog!

And did I mention the cold fog... I even dug out my long wool underwear. Yepp, nothing like fog and 4 degrees in June!
Debating if I should bring my wooly hat too... Mittens is a given, but it just seems wrong to wear a wool hat in June. Maybe I can put it in my pocket, just in case!

Brrrrr.... is all I can say!
Leaving sunny Oslo with 25-30 degrees to 6 degree in SJ was a little harder than expected! But I always try to be positive, and think, well, it can only be better.... but no, I was very wrong!

Check out the weather forecast for tonight and tomorrow (May 29.... yes, May-month!) : Cloudy. Rain showers or ice pellets beginning early this evening then changing to wet flurries this evening and ending after midnight. Risk of thundershowers early this evening. Rainfall amount 2 to 4 mm. Local snow and ice pellet amount 2 cm. Wind becoming north 20 km/h near midnight. Low zero.

The city of fog is showing itself from its best side today! Not too windy, and shockingly warm, over 20 degrees in the shade!

And what a beautiful day to visit St. John's.... 8 degrees, fog and rain...! But at least there is no wind today, that's a first for a long time!

The post office was of course closed for the weekend, so was the tourist office. So not sure if the postcards I send ever made it to Norway. I gave them to the nice lady at the hotel, and she would post them for me! Time will tell!

And so happy I got my favorite, Clotted Cream and warm scones! Yum yum!

Project "dig up the mini forest" is completed!

And the result is fabulous!
With the great help of my mom and dad, I even got the hedge planted! It was a long Friday night, but we managed to set all 41 plants down, in a perfect curve! And we even got the raspberry hedge set up!
Can't wait to come back in May and see how the garden has woken up from its winter-sleep!

There are two of them out there! The flat one from this morning has gone further out, but this little one was pretty nice too!

When i opened my curtains this morning and a saw it! A small ICEBERG!!!!! hurrrrrra!

So after work today I have to go down to Cape Spear and take some pictures!

Snow anyone?

Some help would be appreciated!
The snow bank closest to the road reaches half way up my thigh....
And all this came down during a few hours last night, my driveway was all dry and snow free until last night...!

But at least the crazy wind has stopped, and it is sunny and nice now!

Today's excursion!

The pink boots got a nice excursion today!
In the beautiful winter sunshine we had a drive around the Bull Arm site!
This is the bund wall, completed a few weeks ago. We are slowly getting nearer a dry dock to build the GBS in! Now all frozen now though! As it is minus 15 degrees....

Look what I saw today! A car with a French license plate here in St Johns! And not just any French plate, it's from St Pierre, a small island of Newfoundland!
