My home for the week!

I got pretty lucky this time! My room at the Caspian was taken!! So sad...! So after a 1 hour wait in the hallway outside the "lobby" on the Caspian, I got the good news that Mira had fixed me a room, a single room even! And on the Shkotov! It is basically the "Italian boat"! They have the best breakfast and the best coffee! At least according to my breakfast needs. I do not prefer sausage and bacon, I prefer toast and cheese, yoghurt, muesli and fruit! And I must add that sometimes life is sweet as a blond girl on the Italian boat... need I say more!

Hot hot hot!!! Island in the Sun!

Made it out to the Island again. Life here is pretty ok. Except it is hot, hot, hot. You can not move without sweating. And out here it is even humid (not like in the city where it is superdry), so you just end up soaked right though! But I am the lucky borrower of Kristin's coveralls as well, so I can hand in one to the laundry lady, and have one clean one to wear! Pretty nice! I found a good trick though, just make sure that when you stop to investigate something or to talk to someone, make sure you stand "in the middle off" your coveralls, and preferably rest your hands on your waist, then you get some ventilation and most of the moisture ends up in your socks, clever! Let's just say, I am happy I brought plenty of socks with me!

Who needs elevators!?

Åj åj åj! After a nice huge "Mexican" dinner at a indian/mexican/burger restaurant called Nomad, we arrived home to this note on both our elevators. Hmmm, 16 floors on a super full stomach. Great!
But as young healthy Norwegians, we made our way up the approx 400 steps. The best tip is not to stop, just keep on walking… slow down if you need to, but keep on walking!! I was so happy that I had bought my 5 litres of water the day before...

Summer-fun on the roof

We had a very nice summer night on the roof on Thursday. Kristin and Gregor are going offshore for the weekend, so we thought, why not pretend it is weekend on a Thursday, and do a "dinner and drinks" night on the roof. And so we did!

As usual, always a winner! We started off with a cold wine and beer poolside in the setting sun, then pizza and bubbles in the restaurant, then back poolside with some ice-cold white wine and music! Great night out! (in the pizza eating group picture: Michael, Thom, Mike, Sturla og Linn)

Did I mention I did not want to move.....! We had such a perfect set up in 1113. Going to miss my roommate! She will be just up the stairs, 10 meters away, but it is not the same!

This is what happenes if you are in denial, and do not want to move! Catrin was packing up the last of her stuff, and I thought, hmmm, what if I just hide in her bag, will she bring me with her to her new big appartment?! What do you think? Did she see me?

Summer party on the 17th floor

In the good spirit of summer, we arranged a little get-together at Catrin's new place: the penthouse!

We had plenty of good reasons to have a little party: Celebrating Catrin's new place, crying over moving away from good old 1113, Kristin needed a reason to wear her summer dress, summer and beautiful sunset from the balcony, Saturday, do we need more reasons!!

Ian cooked chili, Diana made pasta, Kristin made focaccia and aioli, David brought bread, Michael brought dips and cheese, Sturla brought more cheese, and the rest brought themselves and some snacks/wine/beer. Lets just say we had lots of food and drinks! And a funfun night!

Atyrau again!

All good here in KZ! We left a cold and rainy Amsterdam and landed (bumpy, but we made it down after a few jumps/bumps) in Atyrau and stepped out to a nice breeze and 35 degrees at 20 in the evening. Still nice and sunny! Good to be back, but also missing the time off. So nice to see everyone again, and actually do something productive. But will miss the rest/sleep! As always, will try to be good and exercise and rest, but also have fun nights out with the great people at work!
The sad news this rotation is that Catrin and I have to move apart! We have had a year together, but now our co-inhabitant life is over, we have to give away the apartment to a married couple. Fair enough! But still sad! We will make the best of it I know for sure!

Amsterdam, yet again!

The time has yet again come for a night in Amsterdam, a long nice
breakfast, and a noon flight to Atyrau. It has now been over a year.
My first "official" trip was in end of June 2009. It has been an
exciting and eventfull year! But I am sure new adventures awaits!

Summer in Oslo and strawberries!

Back in Oslo and enjoying my last days of "freedom" before I return to work in Kz.

There is something special about strawberries from up here in the
north. The season is very short, and the berries are absolutely
fantastic! And lucky me, I got to spend my Sunday at my parents house eating loads of strawberries and making jam! Nam nam!
